Beginnings…

If you’ve read the About section above, then you’ll get the general gist of this blog. I think (not feel or believe) a lot of churches, which compromise the universal Church, have somewhat lost their theological underpinnings. Before you run away thinking, “Here goes another rant against the Church, and a theological one no less.”, I would simply ask you to stay and listen and discuss. I love the Church, but I wonder sometimes if we’ve lost our theology because we’ve lost our practices and disciplines or if we’ve lost our practices and disciplines because we’ve lost our theology. Either way, I think we’ve somewhat lost both and need to get them back, not for our own sake but for the sake of others. And this is exactly what this blog is going to center on: others. We won’t do this properly if we don’t focus upon ourselves, however. The paradox and tension comes when we try to figure out how to do this. We can talk all we want, but if we’re not doing things for others, can we truly be loving others?

In my mind it makes sense if we start at the beginning. “In the beginning,” to be precise. If we are to understand the mission and movement we are to be taking up, we need to understand the mission and movement of the God we are fashioned in the image of. Make sense? If not, let’s continue and see what happens as we seek out the God who seeks us out. We begin with the beginning of the story…
